What usmu described (without the pizza part) is also what I think of as a gyro.

Good hotdogs can be found in Chicago. One of the things (besides the most excellent pizza) I miss about not being there anymore.

omg ... when i was in athens, i lived off this stuff. it's better than heaven. i've tried replicating it at pita shops up here but it's not the same. i liked the little place in the plaka that just put it together for you, not asking what you wanted in it or anything. tasted SO good. i dn't know what was in it, i just know i ordered chicken souvlaki. stupid north american pita places ...

Man, you guys are making me hungry.

I love hotdogs, dispite how dangerous they are. For storebrand ones Ballpark are my favorites. But there's a semi-regional company around here called Hummel (at least I think they're regional) that you can only get their dogs in delis/butcher shops that are easily the best.

Rich, if you can get Nathan's at least try them.

I'm from Canada though, so Texas is much closer to real Mexican food than anything we have here.
